Okay, I work at PCC. Political call center. Which makes calls on behalf of the Republican Issues Campaign and the Pro-Life Campaign Committee, currently. I work there for the money nothing else. Not to get the Rep. party's word out. Not to be the good citizen for the Reps. I'm not even fucking Rep. I only see this job a little in between thing while I work on some of my debt and get myself ready to go back to school.
Now this could possibly be the worst job I've ever had.
They hire school children from the ages of 16-20. I have no problem with this cause hell a few of them aren't so bad and they only come in from 5-9 so they are only there for 3 hours or so.
So our president, Margaret had a meeting this evening with us. To tell us that she has a right to fire us with no reason at all because of course Arizona is a "right to work" state. Meaning we are hired equally but can be fired in a discriminated fashion.
I was absent for a while back in October and November because I was so sick and whatnot. I came in with my doctors note and proof that Lawrence had to be off too to take care of me when came back from the hospital. They took my note and accepted the fact that I was actually sick and wasn't skipping days so I could go to the tanning booth like so many of the teenage girls do there.
Now let me first state that upon hiring me they made it clear that there are many steps to termination when it comes to absence.
1. Verbal
2. Warning
3. Written
4. 1 day suspended without pay
5. 2 day suspended without pay
6. 3 day suspended without pay
7. Probation for 30 days ( meaning if you are absent again within those 30 days you are terminated)
8. TERMINATION
Now that seems like a lot of steps right? Like they give us a lot of breaks right? WRONG!
I was told by my supervisor Miranda that I was fine on making up the 200 hours I missed (cause I was laid up in the hospital sick as a dog). She said if I could try my best to work around my doctors appointments and work that would be fine. She said the effort was what really mattered. Whatever.
I was left to assume that I was pretty much off the hook and if anything was wrong out of those many steps they would prepare me for whatever was at the end of the line.
Today at the meeting Margaret made it a point to point Law and I out by saying if we're sick or have a second job that's no excuse cause PCC is our job. Wth? Lawrence has a first job. A FULL TIME JOB. That always comes first next to this scamming company. Next she is calling all the 5-9ers CHILDREN and says she had to hire a babysitter to watch us cause "we don't know how to act and it's up to her to teach us some real work ethic" or better yet SLAVE LABOR.
A few days ago without warning I was written up by my supervisor for all those absences. Not just any write up, it was a Probation letter stating that if I were absent within the next 30 days I would be terminated. Lawrence received the same. Whoa now, if I'm not mistaken step 1-6 we're totally thrown out the window. Wtf? I didn't make too much of a big deal cause hey, it's just 30 days and I was better anyway.
Now back to tonight.
The bitch fired me.
Yeah, she fired me for NOTHING just like she said she could do.
WTF? Now everyone got all upset and wondered wth I did to get this.
"I have a right to fire whoever I chose without reason." Her words not mine.
She breached her own contract on the whole steps to termination and then my probation contract which was under so many false pretenses. Wtf is all I can say,
I gathered my stuff and left, I was planning on quitting soon anyway but can she be anymore callus? X-mas is coming up and now my paycheck is reduced minimum wage because I hadn't been there long enough in working hours to get over my hiring probation.
Luckily I got a job interview tomorrow. It all works out but in a fucked up way,
When I left Lawrence came down behind me and quit. I was happy in a way cause he was there with me and it just me feel better about hating them. Hard to explain.
But yeah that was pretty much my night.
